Mercy Home Medical Equipment
Mercy Home Medical Equipment provides a variety of state-of-the-art respiratory and home medical equipment
for our patients who have been hospitalized and are preparing to go home, as well as others with special medical needs.
Mercy Home Medical Equipment's hours of business are 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Friday and Saturday mornings 8 AM to Noon.
Something as small as a wrist brace or as large as a hospital bed can be found at Mercy Home Medical Equipment. We serve all ages, and work with many health issues.
For new moms ready to go home, we have breast pumps. For those recovering from surgery or treatment for a variety of injuries, we have ankle and wrist support braces; blood pressure monitors; support hose; raised toilet seats; support pillows for legs or lower back.
For those in nursing homes or assisted living, or needing help at home, we have bath and shower stools and chairs, walkers and canes. We also have accessories for walkers, such as baskets and pouches for carrying things.
Some of our equipment is available for rental, rather than purchase, because the need may be short term. Oxygen tanks, hospital beds and wheelchairs are available under this arrangement, pending insurance approval, as are rehabilitation and some respiratory equipment for conditions such as sleep apnea.
Our equipment and service includes:
- 24-hour free delivery
- Wheelchairs
- Lift chairs
- Bathroom safety items
- Breast pumps and supplies
- Lymphedema supplies
- Assisted devices (long-handled sponges, extended shoe horns, etc.)
Respiratory Care
Respiratory therapists are available as needed for consultation. Mercy Home Medical Equipment also offers a special service for oxygen and respiratory care items and accessories that includes the following – all at no extra charge to our patients:
- Liquid oxygen

- Oxygen concentrators
- Lightweight portable systems (Helios)
- Conserving devices
- Detailed instructions
- Guidance with traveling
- Expertise in billing to Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurances
- 24-hour free delivery for oxygen
Mercy Home Medical Equipment is unique in offering the option of liquid oxygen. The advantage of this Helios lightweight portable system is that the patient uses one tank to refill smaller, lighter and easier-to-handle portable tanks that make activities and life in general much easier.
Mercy also offers a Respiratory Support Group every other month for those living with chronic respiratory diseases, their families and support persons. These meetings are held at Mercy Health Plaza, 5264 Council Street NE, Cedar Rapids, in the conference room near the South Entrance on Park Place Street. Co-sponsors of this group are Mercy Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Mercy Home Medical Equipment. Call 319-398-6651 or 319-363-1308 for more information.
Sleep Apnea
For patients with sleep apnea, we offer Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) and Bilevel Positive Airway
Pressure (BiPAP) breathing equipment that helps ease breathing and snoring during sleep. In addition, we offer health care expertise and service on the use of these units through our clinics.
Our CPAP and BiPAP Clinics are offered the select Thursdays of every third month from 3 to 6 p.m. at the 10th Street Lobby in Mercy Medical Center. These are free, walk-in clinics for individual consultations, mask fittings for sleep comfort, pressure checks on current equipment, evaluation of supplies and new product displays. If clinic times are not convenient for you, call 319-363-1308 or 1-888-686-4498 to set up an appointment.
Enteral Care
For those needing enteral nutrition care (infusions or tube-feeding through the intestinal tract, usually the stomach), our Enteral Care Program provides:
- Home delivery of enteral nutrition formulas, pumps and supplies
- Screening for Medicare eligibility
- Nutritional screening by our staff dietitian
- Detailed patient and family education
- Ongoing monthly follow-up care
24-hour Availability for Emergency Service
Another service that makes us unique is our 24-hour availability for emergency service. In this case, call 319-363-1308 or 1-888-686-4498. Otherwise, for non-emergency questions, call 319-363-1308 during our regular hours, which are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. If you need assistance or have questions about something you’ve purchased or rented from us, you can call after-hours and tell our answering service your need. A therapist or service technician will be contacted, and they will return your call.
We at Mercy know how important it is to have help in recovering from illness or hospitalization, and that includes having the right equipment to make you comfortable and begin healing.
Whether you’re a Mercy patient, family member or friend, stop in at our store to see what we offer. We’re conveniently located on the first floor next to Mercy’s Tenth Street lobby entrance.
