MercyCare North Celebrates 25 Years of Service

MercyCare North, the first urgent-care clinic established by Mercy Medical Center, recently recognized 25 years of providing high-quality urgent care services to residents of Cedar Rapids and surrounding communities.  To celebrate, MercyCare North physicians and staff provided patients with refreshments and small gifts.

MercyCare North opened in mid-April 1983 at 375 Collins Road NE.  The staff’s goal was to conveniently deliver high-quality urgent care services in the Cedar Rapids community. G.L. Schmit, M.D. was the clinic’s Medical Director when it opened.  He provided care at MercyCare North until he retired in 2006.

In 2003, MercyCare North transitioned to the Mercy Health Plaza, 5264 Council Street NE.  The new location offered high-quality walk-in care, an improved facility and access to a full range of outpatient health and wellness services.

MercyCare North is open seven days a week, and is closed only on Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends.  The clinic is equipped to treat patients’ urgent-care needs, such as earaches, cuts, fevers, colds, sprains and strains.  On-site laboratory, pharmacy and X-ray services are also available.

The medical staff at MercyCare North includes Sudha Anand, M.D., Tami Feickert, PA-C, Elizabeth Hoffman, ARNP, Kathy Howe, D.O., Stephen Runde, M.D. and Tanya Teggatz, M.D.
